Moorland Pottery Wisteria Design Vase by Lise B Moorcroft.

Moorland Pottery Wisteria Design Vase. Using traditional production methods. Hand crafted and hand painted completed with a beautiful lustre glaze finish. Produced in 1999 in a Limited Edition of 750 at their Chelsea Works factory. Based in Burslem one of the six towns of Stoke on Trent.

This one is numbered 17 of 750 on the base.

Due to the high cost of production. It was discontinued soon after production started. And very few were actually produced. Consequently it is not seen very often on the secondary market. Making it a very rare piece of pottery.

It is a design and hand painted by Lise B Moorcroft and personally signed on the base by her. Lise worked with Moorland Pottery for a short period of time during the late 1990’s.

Lise B Moorcroft is the Grand Daughter of William Moorcroft, and the Daughter of Walter Moorcroft OBE. As the fourth generation potter from the Moorcroft family it is plain to see, in each piece, the family heritage and unique skills. And now works freelance as a Ceramic Artist.

Established in 1986. Acquiring the Chelsea Works in Burslem. One of the six towns of the Potteries. A Victorian pottery. Still having a “bottle kiln” in the court yard.

Producing pottery using traditional production methods using modern technology.

Initially they produced decorative art pottery. However due to the very high production costs of this type of pottery they needed to diversify into pottery that was not so expensive to produce.

Consequently their early pottery is now only available on the secondary market, Frequently achieving premium prices.

Now well known for their “Stokie Mugs”. Mugs designed with local dialect sayings from the Potteries. Which they have now expanded into other areas and regions of the UK. Designs with humorous  and local sayings.
