A high fired stoneware vase. Hand crafted and hand painted in the heart of the Potteries by Burslem Pottery.

The design depicts the clock tower built on the eastern gate of the ancient Roman Walls. Built in 1897 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Jubilee. It is a prominent landmark of the City of Chester and is said to be the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben in London.

The main features of this vase:

• A High Fired Stoneware Vase.
• Hand Crafted and Hand Painted using traditional production methods.
• A “Trial” Design endorsed on the base of the vase.
• Sgraffito applied design

Sgraffito a traditional ceramic decorating technique. Where the potter scratched or carves out a design onto the top layer after the first firing to make the clay hard. Then hand painted.

Burslem Pottery is a small, independent pottery manufacturer based in Stoke on Trent. Established in 2005 after the owner, Tracy Bentley, acquired the moulds and design rights of Cobridge Stoneware. Which had recently been closed down by Moorcroft Pottery.
