A Trefoil Design 10cm Vase. Portrays the clover flower. Trefoil comes from the latin word “Trifolium”. Meaning “Three Leaves”. And is usually known as clover. An extremely important plant in pasture land. And a flower that is very common in just about everyone’s lawn.

Moorcroft Pottery

The first piece of fine art pottery. Designed by William Moorcroft. Produced in 1897. Whilst he was employed by James MacIntye & Co.

And it was in 1913 that Moorcroft, with the assistance of outside financial support.  Was able to move production to the present day factory. To do business under his own name. Where Moorcroft Pottery continue to make hand cast handpainted fine art pottery.

From the beginning Walter Moorcroft’s new art pottery. Was sold by many of the prestigious stores. Such as Harrods, Tiffany & Co in New York.

Importantly Moorcroft Pottery has been a favourite with the UK Royal Family. Being appointed H M Potter to the Queen. By Her Majesty Queen Mary in 1928, Continuing to present day with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II . Still taking new Moorcroft designs. To add to the Royal Collection.

Today, over 100 years on. Moorcroft pottery is still much sought after by collectors from all around the world.
